BIKES + BAR + BOOMIN' TUNES = RAD.

No, not
that kind of Biker Bar. (Not that those can't be Rad too.)

The next time you're out and about on your ordinary business affairs and searches for Radness in the Rocky Mountain States, take note:

We think you'd do more than well to treat yourself to the exceptional slice of Rad found in Road34 Bike Shop, Deli and Tavern in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The concept of the place is dead-simple:

Bicycles, Beer, and Boomin' live music.
Yep, three staples of Radness --- all under one roof.
And all mixing with each other, apparently, in equal, complimentary fashion.

That's right --- it's a recipe for Mega-Radness --- and it sure looks like Road34 delivers.

With a certifiably-Rad lineup of bikes for sale, sandwiches to-order, and beers on tap (PBR and Rocky-Mountain brews), they'd already be justified in calling themselves done --- but they don't stop there, no way, no sir.

Road34 puts the proverbial icing on the cake with more trimmings than you'd think necessary -- in the form of 2-wheeled-community-organizing of bike jams and races.....and also in righteously-ear-ticklin' musical performances by both good-natured local boys (Motorhome and 3 Twins are two good examples) and by seasoned floor-stompers like Cracker.

Having one of these in Fort Collins is definitely Rad --- but the thought of more of these types of neighborhood institutions sprouting up around this Rad Nation of ours gets us downright giddy.

Road34:
lookin' to us like a
Road-
map for others to make similar Radness happen elsewhere!

Looking for more?
Their website at www.road34.com just might dish up enough info to make you consider a Rad plane ticket to Fort Collins for the weekend.

FLIP PHONES. SUPER RAD.

What, you say???
Not a touch-screen brick like the i-____?
Or one of those fancy slider phones like the D***d?

Noooooope.......as far as we here at RAD WORLD are concerned, nothing beats a Flip-Phone for sheer Radness.

Real buttons, that you can actually feel when you're pushing them? Yup.
A screen that's flipped inside, and protected when it's in your pocket? heck yeah.
Compact size? you know it.
A distinctly kick-ass "Retro" or "Analog" quality about it? For sure.

On top of all of that, you get the fun of actually flipping a phone open and closed, like Shatner would do with his pocket communicator when he needed to call the Enterprise to beam him up for another glass of Telurian Brandy.....and the Radness of that alone is off the charts!

Extra-Rad versions of Flip-Phones include the Original Motorola Star*Tac, Various Sanyo "Rugged Flips"......

....and more recent jobs like the LG Lotus with a full QWERTY keyboard, which actually won a RED DOT Design award for its sheer Radness.

So for serious Radness, boys and girls ---- be sure to whip it out....and flip it out.

RAD: THE MOVIE. (sucker punch, we know.)

We just can't leave this one out.

And why would we?

It just doesn't get any Radder than RAD: The Movie. (1986.)

Back Flips? Check.
A ridiculously-cute young Lori Loughlin, of "Full House" sitcom fame, doing literally-impossible tricks on a BMX bike at a School Dance? Double Check.
Immortal lines like "Let's walk this sucker"? Triple-Check....
And a BMX Track christened "Hell-Track," which included a giant KIX Cereal bowl and spoon to ride through? Quadruple-Check.....for Rad-ness!

Throw in some fiesty amounts of historic Pipeline-Skatepark airborne-BMX aerial action, dished out by truly-Rad Legends-of-the-Sport Eddie Fiola, Brian Blyther, and Mike Dominguez.....and equal amounts of Flatland Shenanigans served up by equally Rad-tastic freestyle pros Martin Aparijo, R.L. Osborne, and Pat Romano....and clearly these were some Rad Times, Indeed.

Score a copy of this on VHS through eBay, or from your favorite Amazon re-seller.

So......what would be even Radder than RAD?
That's easy --- A DVD Version of RAD. One is rumored to be in the works.

'nuff said.

RAD VANS.

SO -- RAD WORLD has been somewhat obsessed with Vans lately.

Not the sneakers, although they are most admittedly rad too....

....but we're talking 1960's-1970's-vintage CUSTOM VANS.....Boogie Vans, Econolines, A-100's, Class-B Compact Campers....the style-pad on wheels. Dig?

This website has a fantastic artistic overview of a truly rad collection of Vans.
Make that......Rad Vans.

Radness Abounds.

Quite simply, it's everywhere you look.

You've just got to develop the eye --- which doesn't take but a minute --- and you realize that we're surrounded by more Radness than you can shake a radical stick at.

Birds, trees, rocks and stones,
Boogie-Vans and ice cream cones.

Modern Art and Classic homes,

Xylophones and electronic tones.

Bicycles and mountain-tops,
Tasty cakes and beach-flip-flops.

Radical designs for products neat,
Radical ideas for futures sweet.

The best time that you ever had,
Anything you think is RAD.

So let's forget the news broadcasts.
And let's forget what people are complaining about in the break room at work.
(And absolutely -- let's be sure to forget about the toe that we stubbed this morning.)

Let's focus on what's truly kick-ass, Rad-seekers --- and while we're at it, let's have a blast --- while we take inventory of the serious freakin' awesomeness that's out there in the world.

Get Rad, Everybody. :)
